Above & Beyond ▸

The “Above & Beyond” award recognizes full-time employees who have demonstrated a strong commitment to NMSU and made a significant contribution to our institution. The individuals will be recognized for performance that goes “above and beyond” their regular responsibilities and for demonstrating a positive attitude that inspires others.

Aggie Legends is a tradition that pays tribute to alumni and friends of NMSU who have achieved great success in their lives and have supported New Mexico State University in multiple ways. We are proud to call the following distinguished individuals Aggie Legends.

Excellence in Academic Advising Award

Excellence in Academic Advising Award ▸

The Excellence in Academy Advising Award recognizes faculty and professional academic advisors for their outstanding achievement and service to our students. Candidates are nominated by students.

Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Staff Award

Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Staff Award ▸

Established in 1983, an annual cash award in recognition of dedicated, outstanding service to the university. The NMSU Employee Council has the final responsibility for recipient selection.

Ralph B. Crouch Memorial Award

Ralph B. Crouch Memorial Award ▸

An annual cash award to honor a current or living, former employee of NMSU for outstanding contributions to the life of the university community. The award alternates annually between two categories: (1) non-exempt staff and (2) faculty and exempt staff.

Outcomes Assessment II Best Practices Award

This annual award recognizes outstanding assessment processes among co-curricular, administrative and operations units at NMSU. The Outcomes Assessment Committee for Co-Curriculum, Administration and Operations grants the award.

Service Awards

Service Awards are given to faculty and staff in recognition and appreciation of service to the university. Recognized anniversary years are: five, ten, fifteen, twenty-five, thirty, and thrity-five.

University Research Council Awards

The Early Career Awards, Distinguished Career Awards, and Research Recognition are presented annually to early career and senior faculty and staff to increase recognition for exceptional research and other creative scholarly efforts.

Donald Roush Award for Teaching Excellence

Donald Roush Award for Teaching Excellence ▸

The annual Roush awards are decided based on information from students, department heads, deans and community campus directors. There is no application for these awards.

Patricia Christmore Faculty Teaching Award

Patricia Christmore Faculty Teaching Award ▸

Named for Patricia Christmore, former accounting department head, the annual award recognizes and rewards superb junior tenure-track faculty members for excellence in teaching.

Distinguished Cooperative Extension Service Awards

The Distinguished Extension Awardrecognizes Extension faculty members for their outstanding leadership in and unwavering dedication to Extension. The annual award carries a monetary gift.

Regents Professorships

Regents Professorships ▸

The Regents Professorship was established in 2001 by the NMSU Board of Regents to recognize faculty to honor contributions in areas of education, research, extension education and public service. Regents Professors hold the title for as long as they continue to teach at New Mexico State University. The Regents Professorships come with a permanent increase in salary.

Westhafer Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research

Westhafer Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research ▸

The Westhafer Award is given in alternating years for excellence in teaching, research and creative activity. The Westhafer is presented in memory of Robert L. Westhafer. The annual award carries a $3,000 gift.

Presidential Medallion

Established in 2015, the Presidential Medallion recognizes retired faculty, staff, state officials or community members who have selflessly served NMSU over a long period of time.
